CAA Rec Softball program is designed for girls that love to play softball and want to continue to develop in a less-competitive atmosphere. Copley Softball participates in the Community Softball League (CSL) which competes with teams in West Akron (WABL), Highland, Cloverleaf, Revere and sometimes NorWayne. Our Junior League may also participate in the Springfield Township Athletic League (STAL) due to opponent availability. Girls who ACTIVELY play on Travel or Club softball teams are not eligible to play in this Rec league. There may be a max of 2 players per rec team of any girl who is ROSTERED on a travel team but not actively playing These players may not play in the pitcher or catcher positions at any time.
For our Spring/Summer season: scheduled games begin in May and end by July 4th (weather permitting). Teams can expect to play 12-15 games followed by a week of playoffs. All teams 10U and older will be entered into the single elimination playoffs for the Spring season. There is also an All-Star game after the regular season for a select few players from each team 10U and older. Participation in the All-Star Game will be determined by the coaching staff.
For our Fall season: scheduled games begin in September and end by mid-October. Teams can expect to play 10-12 games with no playoffs and no All-Star Game.
Our leagues:
Co-Ed T-Ball: Preschool & Kindergarten or 5/6 years old (no playoffs - only offered in the Spring)
Coach Pitch: Grades 1&2 or usually 7/8 years old (no playoffs)
American League: Grades 3&4 or usually 9/10 years old
National League: Grades 5&6 or usually 11/12 years old
Junior League: Grades 7&8 or usually 13/14 years old
Girls will be provided shirts and socks. Each girl must provide their own pants/shorts, bat, glove, shoes/cleats (no metal), batting helmet with face guard and face mask (now REQUIRED when playing any infield position). CAA has a "give back" program for new or gently used gear. If you have gear to donate or are in need of gear for your athlete, please feel free to inquire about this program. Rec players may NOT request specific coaches or jersey numbers. Jersey numbers are assigned randomly based on shirt size and coaches are assigned a roster based on compatibility and skill level in order to make even and fair teams. We hope you understand these guidelines.
Coaches are all volunteers and may have a different amount of exposure/experience with softball. For more information on the CSL rules, requirements and equipment specifics, you can find a copy of the CSL Rule Book by clicking this link: 2024 csl softball rules
