What is it?
It is a marathon baseball/softball game played between two teams (Blue & Gold) consisting of CAA Baseball and Softball players. Games in each age division will be happening simultaneously at the Copley High School Baseball and Softball fields.
When is it?
Saturday, May 18, 2024 beginning at 9am and ending at dusk. There are no other games or practices scheduled on this date so everyone in the Organization can participate in this fundraiser.
Who makes up the teams?
Two teams (Gold & Blue) will be formed in each division (Boys/Girls – 10u/12u/14u; Co-ed – 8u) by combining individual teams into one of two larger teams whose goal will be to play as many innings as possible in a day.
How does it work?
League teams will play mini-games as part of the larger game rotating in and out of the larger game every hour. All divisions except 8u will use pitching machines to speed play. Our 8u Co-ed teams will play coach pitch. With the consistency of the pitching machines, players should be able to get tons of at-bats throughout the day.
What do the players need to do?
Between now and May 18, 2024, players need to go out with their sponsor sheet and solicit sponsors that will pledge $$ for each inning we play that day. Sponsors may donate a flat fee if they prefer. Sponsor sheets and donations will be turned into your team coach prior to May 20.
What are the Prizes?
- All players with at least $10 in donations receive a 100-inning game shirt and a Food Ticket (Hot Dog, Chips, Drink)
- The Player with the highest amount of sponsorship dollars in each division (8u,10u,12u,14u) will win a $50 Gift Card
- The Player with the highest amount of OVERALL sponsorship dollars will win a $250 VISA Gift Card to purchase prize of your choice
Why are we doing this?
First, it is a fundraiser for the league. But more importantly it is a fun way to kick off the season and for Coaches and Parents to get to know all of the players and parents from your team. Players will get the chance to play lots of different positions, get tons of at-bats against the pitching machines, and learn a lot about tournament play that most of them have never had the chance to experience.
Where is the money going?
Proceeds from the fundraiser go right back into the program. This enables us to keep player fees low, offer scholarships to families in need, purchase new equipment and improve our facilities. In addition, we are able to offer a $1,000 college scholarship to 2 Copley High School graduating Seniors and offset a portion of the cost to send our 12u Travel Baseball team to Cooperstown for a week-long tournament.
